General Information:

The Kearsley Theatre opened in 1949. It featured slide back seats, a cry room and a parking lot that opened onto two streets. George Daly owned the theater most of its life. It closed in 1965. After the theater closed it was later turned into Affairs to Remember and antique mall.

My best friend's dad owned it in the early to mid-60's, Mr. John McAuley. I remember going there every Saturday and Sunday and working the concession stand. We watched every Elvis movie at least 8 times a weekend, and there was a movie out with Chubby Checker and Gene Chandler. Everyone was dancing in the aisle to the music. It was a great time! When we got tired of being around everyone, we could go up to the cry room and watch. There were fumes of some sort, but no one was hurt. Still trying to figure out what year that was. Going to go to public library for old Flint Journal stories.
